Search and AI Visibility Audit

Prepared by Nick Gray's Team

Search and AI Visibility Audit for Style Girlfriend

Our goal: more readers from Google and AI assistants who become newsletter subscribers, paid members and styling clients, and earn ad and affiliate revenue on every visit.

About the data: we don't have access to your Google Search Console yet, so everything in this audit comes from our own research: third-party traffic estimates and live Google checks. With access, we'd see your real clicks, Discover traffic and which pages earn, and could give you a much sharper audit.

How to use this audit. Sections 1 to 3 each start with the changes that make the most difference, nine in all, now and as the site grows; smaller ones follow under "Also worth doing". Section 1 gets more visits and clients from what's already working, section 2 turns readers into subscribers and clients, and section 3 is what to publish next. After them come the technical checks, links and credit (section 4) and an optional social media idea (section 5). Open any item to see the goal, what to do and how it helps. Every task is labelled with who does it:

Already done (Sep 22 to Oct 2, by Nick Gray's team): the speed fixes (homepage caching, the CSS cleanup Cloudflare was blocking, 2,861 photos resized; the main content now appears in about 3.4 seconds instead of 12 to 15), a new footer, the About page typo, and search descriptions, short Google titles and links on the newest posts. Google's real-visitor speed data passes. This audit builds on that work.

1Get more visits and clients from what's already working

Your pages that already rank or get visits, and the changes that turn more of those visits into readers, subscribers and clients.

Today

  • The basics are clean. Nothing hides pages from Google, and every page has a title. technical table
  • Your biggest search lands on the wrong page. For "business casual men" (about 118,539 searches a month), Google shows a 505-word fall post in 43rd place; your full guide isn't in the top 50. business casual
  • Your men's style hub is labelled as an About page. /mens-style/ already links to 25 of your pages, but its title and main heading say "About" and "Meet styleGF". big-search addresses
  • Google's AI already quotes your outfit guides. 69% of its 300 citations of the site are outfit questions. AI-quoted pages

The plan

  1. Give each business casual search one page, and point your links at it. business casual
  2. Put the big-search addresses on pages that answer them. big-search addresses
  3. Turn the by-decade guides into signup pages that show up on Google. by-decade guides
  4. Then build on it with the costume posts (before Oct 31), the AI-quoted guides, the two first-date guides and dated titles.
Highest-impact changes (3)

Give each business casual search one page, and point your links at it

The goal: Your full business casual guide and your best outfits page show up for the business casual searches, instead of a 505-word fall post in 43rd place.

The problemGoogle doesn't know which of your pages answers which business casual search. For "business casual men" (about 118,539 searches a month) it shows your 505-word fall post in 43rd place, because your full guide never says "business casual for men" in its headings and only three of your pages link to it. For "men's business casual outfits", you have two outfits pages, so neither is clearly the one to show.

Our solutionGive each search one clear page: the guide for "business casual for men", one merged outfits page for "men's business casual outfits", and every business casual link pointing at one of them.

1Rename the guide's headings so they say "business casual for men"

On the guideTodayChange it to
Main heading"The New Rules of Business Casual"Business Casual for Men: The New Rules (and What to Wear)
New first subheadingnoneWhat Is Business Casual for Men? (with a short answer under it; see below)
Subheading"Below, 4 business casual guidelines for 2026:"The 4 New Rules of Business Casual for Men
Subheading"1. There Are No Rules."Rule 1: There Are No Rules, but Here's What Counts as Business Casual
Subheading"2. Develop your style to feel your best."Rule 2: Build a Business Casual Style That Feels Like You
Subheading"3. Uniforms Aren't Boring, Bad, or Bland."Rule 3: A Business Casual Uniform Isn't Boring
Subheading"4. Be prepared to change and adapt."Rule 4: Adjust for Your Office, Season and Industry
New last subheadingnoneWhat to Wear: Men's Business Casual Outfits (links in step 3, row 22)
Web address/business-casual-guidelines//business-casual-for-men/ (the old address forwards to it)

Your writing under each heading stays the same.

The short answer under "What Is Business Casual for Men?": what it should include
  • Opens with the search, word for word: the first sentence starts "Business casual for men is…" and answers it straight away.
  • Two or three sentences, about 40 to 60 words. That's the length Google lifts into its AI answers and "People also ask".
  • Names the pieces: a collared shirt, polo or knit; chinos or tailored trousers; leather shoes or clean sneakers; and whether a blazer is needed.
  • Places it between a suit and casual wear, so it also answers "what is business casual".
  • Ends by pointing into the page: the four rules and the outfits by season.

Write it in your own voice; these are the things it needs for search.

2Merge the two outfits pages into one

  1. Check the Mizzen+Main deal. "31 Men's Business Casual Outfits for Work" (/2020-outfits-for-men/) is sponsored; confirm the outfits can move, and keep the credit.
  2. Move its 31 outfits (photos, "SG Says" notes, shop links) into /mens-business-casual-outfits/, next to its 4. That makes 35.
  3. Group them by occasion and name each outfit by what's in it (see the table).
  4. Repoint your links to /2020-outfits-for-men/ so they go to the merged page.
  5. Forward /2020-outfits-for-men/ to the merged page permanently (a 301).

What to do
  • Your teamApprove the new headings, the short answer and the 14 links, or tell us how you'd word them.
  • Your teamCheck that the Mizzen+Main deal allows the 31 outfits to move.
  • We draft, you approveWe can add the 14 links for you, row by row, if you'd rather not.
  • Site developerIn this order: the links (step 3), the headings (step 1), the merge and its forward (step 2), then the guide's new address.
    Exact changes for your developer

    1) The links in the step 3 table (rows marked "already there" need no change, apart from widening the link words in one). 2) The guide's main heading, subheadings and Yoast title as in step 1. 3) Move the 31 outfits into /mens-business-casual-outfits/ (main heading, occasion subheadings and outfit names as in step 2, Mizzen+Main credit kept), repoint internal links to /2020-outfits-for-men/, then 301 it to /mens-business-casual-outfits/. 4) Change the guide's slug to /business-casual-for-men/, 301 /business-casual-guidelines/ to it, repoint internal links (row 7) and resubmit the sitemap.

  • Your teamCheck Search Console 3 to 4 weeks after the links go in: which page shows for "business casual men" and "business casual for men". Rankings can dip for a few weeks after the merge while Google catches up.

What this doesOnce the links and page changes are in, every signal on your site points Google at the guide for "business casual for men" and at one outfits page for outfit ideas. That should make both pages stronger for those searches and give them a lift in the rankings.

Put the right pages at the addresses for your biggest searches

The goal: Your strongest web addresses start winning the searches they name, like "mens style" and "skincare routine for men".

The problemFour of your web addresses name searches about 5,500 people make a month, but the pages at them don't answer those searches. /mens-style/ is already a men's style hub with 25 links, but its title says "About StyleGF". /mens-skincare-routine/ is a 41-word email form.

Our solutionMake each page answer the search its address names.

AddressWhat's there todaySearch it should winPeople a month

1Relabel /mens-style/ as your men's style hub

Subheading"Shop current men's favorites at styleGF HQ:"Shop Our Current Men's Favorites
Subheading"Learn more about men's style from styleGF"Men's Style Guides: Where to Start

The text stays. The homepage and About page keep "Style Girlfriend" for anyone searching the name.

2Fix the hub's 8 links

On /mens-style/, swap the picture and button links for words that name the page. The age links move from tag archives to your by-decade guides, which sends this page's visitors to the signup pages (see the by-decade guides).

#Find this link on /mens-style/It goes to todayChange the link words toPoint it at

Keep the photos if you like them. Add the words as a text link under each one, or as the button text.

3Give the other three pages a heading that names their search

AddressMain heading todayChange it to
/mens-skincare-routine/An email formSkincare Routine for Men: A Simple Daily Routine (Free Download), with the routine written on the page and the download inside it
/guides/"Your life evolves…"Men's Style Guide: Where to Start, by Topic and Age
/how-to-dress-well-men/Title "How to Dress Well - Style Girlfriend"How to Dress Better as a Man: What Women Notice

The title on Google matches each heading, plus " - Style Girlfriend".

What to do

What this doesOnce each address holds a page that names and answers its search, Google can match it to that search, and these strong addresses should start showing up for "mens style", "skincare routine for men" and the rest. The skincare page still collects emails; it just earns visits first.

Turn the by-decade guides into signup pages that show up on Google

The goal: The by-decade guides, the pages you built to grow the newsletter, start showing up on Google for the age searches and turn their visitors into subscribers.

The problemYou want these guides to grow the newsletter, and your age posts already pull in readers: "Style for Men Over 50" and "How to Dress Over 60" are among the posts people land on most from Google (server logs, Sep 23). But the hubs' main headings are slogans like "Own your next chapter 💪", so Google can't tell which search each one answers. None has a signup form near the top.

Our solutionGive each hub a main heading that names its decade, put a signup form right under it, and make its links say where they go.

1Put a decade heading at the top of each hub

PageMain heading todayChange it to
/thirties/Make it all work together 💪The Guy's Guide to Your 30s
/forties/Own your next chapter 💪The Guy's Guide to Your 40s
/fifties/Live your best life 💪The Guy's Guide to Your 50s
/twenties/"START STRONG 💪", with "The Guy's Guide to Your Twenties" smaller under itMake "The Guy's Guide to Your 20s" the big heading, as Nick suggested

The slogans can stay as a line under the heading. The dating guides (/dating-in-your-20s/, /dating-in-your-30s/, /dating-in-your-forties/, /dating-in-your-50s/) keep their headings: about 720 people a month search "dating in your 40s", 588 for the 30s, 471 for the 50s and 90 for the 20s.

2Add a signup form under each heading

One form near the top of each hub, with a promise for that decade: "The Guy's Guide to Your 40s, in your inbox once a month." See the signup change for the form itself.

3Reword 4 links that already exist

Each hub already links to its dating guide, but the link words are just "Dating & Relationships". Same link, clearer words:

#Open this pageFind this linkChange the link words toIt goes to (no change)
1/twenties/"Dating & Relationships"Dating in Your 20s/dating-in-your-20s/
2/thirties/"Dating & Relationships"Dating in Your 30s/dating-in-your-30s/
3/forties/"Dating & Relationships"Dating in Your 40s/dating-in-your-forties/
4/fifties/"Dating & Relationships"Dating in Your 50s/dating-in-your-50s/

/fifties/ already links to /style-for-men-over-50/, which is 3rd for "mens fashion over 50" (about 353 a month), so leave that as it is. The hub's job is the signup, not that search. The 4 age links on /mens-style/ will also point here (see big-search addresses, step 2).

What to do
  • Your teamTell us if the new main headings work for you, and make the 4 link-word changes in step 3.
  • Site developerShow the new main heading large at the top of each hub, with a signup form under it. The hubs use a theme template, which is why this wasn't a quick content edit in September.
    Exact changes for your developer

In the decade hub template (/twenties/, /thirties/, /forties/, /fifties/): render the H1 from the step 1 table at the top of the page, then the beehiiv free signup form directly below it. Match the Yoast title to the H1.

What this doesWith a heading that names the decade, each hub can start showing up on Google for its age search, and the form right under it turns those visitors into subscribers, which is the goal you named for this quarter.

Also worth doing (4)

Refresh the five Halloween costume posts before Oct 31

The goal: Your costume posts are current, with working product links, while people are searching for costumes.

The problemFive costume posts already rank in the top 5 for 29 Halloween searches, but costume searches peak in the next few weeks, and old products and dead links turn those visits away.

Our solutionRefresh all five before Oct 31: products that still sell, working links, the current year.

Each post's best placing is in the top 5; a refresh keeps them there while the searches happen.

When: Before Oct 31, while people are searching for costumes. It's a small job.

What to do
  • Your teamBefore Oct 31, refresh each post: check the products still sell, replace dead links and update any year in the title.

What this doesThe posts keep their top-5 spots while people are searching, and current products and working links should turn more of those October visits into affiliate clicks.

The goal: You know which pages Google's AI already cites, so you keep them fresh and model new guides on them.

What to do

What this doesYour cited pages stay inside the AI answer, above the regular results, and new guides in the same format give Google's AI more of your pages to quote.

Check whether your two first-date guides compete, and merge them if so

The goal: One stronger first-date guide wins "first date tips", instead of two guides competing for it.

The problemYou have two first-date guides, and only one ranks:

Our solutionOnce Search Console is connected, check whether Google shows both for the same searches. If it does, move the longer guide's best parts into the one that ranks, and forward the old address.

When: Once Search Console is connected, and after the first-date outfit page. Only Search Console shows whether Google shows both guides for the same searches. first-date outfits

What to do

What this doesOne guide gets all the links and content, which should make it stronger for "first date tips" and help it move up from 5th.

Update or remove the past year in 75 page titles

The goal: Your titles look current in the results, so searchers click instead of skipping them.

The problem75 page titles name a past year (page scan, Oct 5), many of them gift guides and roundups, and searchers skip results that look old.

The goal: More readers who find you on Google join the newsletter, where the paid tier and styling session reach them.

The problemOn a phone, the only signup form on your three most-visited posts sits after the article, 87–97% of the way down, where most readers never get to. And the "Subscribe" links in the menu and footer open an archive of paid issues, not a free signup.

The goal: Men looking for an online stylist, and your own readers, find your styling session on your site and book it there.

The problemYour highest-priced offer, the $825 styling session, only lives on Gumroad, so Google has no page of yours to show the men who search online stylist for men (about 122 a month) or personal stylist for men (about 380). Your old styling post, /style-girlfriend-styling-service/, forwards to Gumroad, and the footer link to it is labelled "Friends With Benefits", the name of your $9 newsletter tier. Your readers rarely see the offer either: only 1 of the 245 posts we checked links to your styling post.

Our solutionOne page on your site, "Online Personal Stylist for Men", built from what you already have, with the Gumroad checkout as its button, and links to it from your most-read posts.

"Online Personal Stylist for Men" holds both searches: the one you can win and the bigger local one.

2Fill it with what you already have

What the page should include
  • The first sentence names the search and the offer: that this is an online personal stylist for men, from Style Girlfriend, and what he walks away with.
  • Price and the book button near the top: $825, the 1:1 video call and the style plan (from Gumroad), with the Gumroad checkout as the button. Repeat the button at the end.
  • How it works in 3 or 4 steps: book, a short questionnaire, the video call, the plan and shopping list.
  • Your stylists, by name with photos: Kelci, Caroline, Allie and the others, from /category/service/.
  • Proof: your client story, and one or two more results if you have them.
  • Questions, answered in 2 or 3 sentences each: "Is a personal stylist worth it?", "How is this different from Stitch Fix?" (you already wrote that comparison), "Do I have to buy everything?"

Write it in your own voice; these are the things it needs for search and for a buyer.

3Put it where readers lookA money page belongs one click from every page, not only in the footer.

What to do
  • Your teamTell us the page can go ahead, and send one or two client results we can quote.
  • We draft, you approveThe page from step 2, the About page line in step 3, and the three added lines in step 4.
  • Site developerThe new address and its forwards, the menu and footer links, then the links in step 4.
    Exact changes for your developer

    1) Remove the redirect on /style-girlfriend-styling-service/ (today it goes to /service and then Gumroad), publish the page at /online-personal-stylist-for-men/, and 301 both /style-girlfriend-styling-service/ and /service to it. 2) Yoast title "Online Personal Stylist for Men | Style Girlfriend"; H1 and H2s as in step 1. 3) Service schema with an Offer (price 825, USD) and FAQPage for the visible questions. 4) Publish it as a WordPress page (not a post). Add "Personal Styling" to the main menu after Shopping; rename the footer link "Friends With Benefits" to "Personal styling" and point it at the page. 5) The 8 links in step 4; resubmit the sitemap.

What this doesYour best offer gets its own page on a site Google already trusts, named for a search where page one is beatable, so it should start showing up for "online stylist for men". The bigger win at first is your own readers: the links put the offer in front of the people already reading your most-visited posts, starting with the long-hair guide.

Replace dead affiliate links on older posts

The goal: Clicks on product links in your older posts earn commission again.

The problemIn a check of 400 pages, 175 product links lead to missing pages, so those clicks earn nothing (Oct 5).

Our solutionSwap them for current products, starting with the posts that get visits, then check monthly.

Where they are:

  • bit.ly: 129 links lead to a missing page; 3 amzn.to links do too.
  • style.gf (the site's own short domain): 43 lead to a missing or deleted page, including on "5 Days, 5 Ways" posts.
  • Product pages gone: Target, Uniqlo, Lands' End. A dead Target link sits in the homepage's home module, shown on 9 pages.

Other Amazon links turned our checker away. That's Amazon blocking bots, not dead links.

When: After the signup form and styling page. signup form

What to do
  • Your teamSwap dead links for current products. Start with posts that get visits (the "5 Days, 5 Ways" series) and the Target link in the home module.
  • Site developerSet up a monthly dead-link check on links to other sites.
    Exact changes for your developer

Status codes from the 400-page crawl (Oct 5): 129 bit.ly links and 3 amzn.to links return 404; 43 style.gf links return 404 or 410. Other Amazon links returned 503 (bot blocking), so the monthly check should treat Amazon 503s as live.

What this doesClicks on product links in older posts should start earning commission again, and readers keep trusting your next link.

Put the paid newsletter's price and contents on the site

The goal: Readers and AI assistants see the paid newsletter's price and what it includes, right on your own site.

The problemThe paid newsletter ($9 a month or $99 a year for the Monthly Edit's 9 outfits and a quarterly Zoom Q&A) is only described on the newsletter's own site, not on stylegirlfriend.com.

Our solutionA short paid-membership block on your site with the price, what's included and two or three reader results.

When: After the styling page, which has the same problem and earns more per sale. styling page

What to do
  • We draft, you approveA short paid-membership block for the site: price, what's included and two or three reader results.
  • Your teamWhich two or three reader results can we quote? Send them over.
  • Your teamOnce the block is live, ask ChatGPT whether a men's style newsletter is worth paying for, and see if it names yours.

What this doesWhen someone asks ChatGPT "is a men's style newsletter worth paying for?", it compares price, what's included and proof. With those facts on your site, it has something of yours to quote, which should help it name your newsletter.

3What to publish next

The topics Google trusts you for, and what to write so every new post builds on them.

Today

  • The library is drifting. About 280 viral listicles since June, aimed at older general readers, rank for nothing. listicles

The goal: You know which topics Google already trusts Style Girlfriend for, so every new post builds on them.

Outfits, dating and hair earn 89% of visits from about half the posts; that's where new posts should go.

  • One page leads. The long-hair guide is your biggest single page, with about 20% of estimated visits from the 1,000 searches the site ranks best for.

Visits are our estimate: DataForSEO clickstream searches times the usual click rate for each Google position, for the 1,000 searches the site ranks best for (out of 16,229).

What this doesEach new post adds to a topic Google already trusts you for, so it has a better chance of ranking, and the whole site looks more clearly like the place for men's style, grooming and dating advice from women.

Point the viral listicles at your reader and a real search

The goal: The listicle format keeps working for you, but each post now brings your reader from Google and can be quoted in Google's AI answers.

The problemAbout 280 posts since June, from your Discover program, are written for a different reader, like retirees and boomers ("11 things boomers still do that Gen Z finds unbelievably rude"). None of them ranks among your top 1,000 searches, and none is quoted in Google's AI answers (0 of 300). Your style guides do both: /style-tips-for-guys/ alone ranks for 56 searches and is quoted for 35.

Our solutionKeep the program and the format, and give it a new topic list: titles aimed at your reader and at something he types into Google. You already do this well, as in "12 Things Women Want to See in a Man's Bathroom".

1Swap the next topics for these

We checked each search on Google (Oct 6). All five show an AI answer, and listicles already win them, like The Modest Man's "18 Style Details Women Notice First" and Real Men Real Style's "17 Conversation Tips for Men". Each one is a search men make, and none is used by another post on your site.

2Add three more formats Google's AI already quotes from you

The second column is the proof from your own site: how often Google's AI already quotes that post (Oct 5).

All three searches show an AI answer on Google (Oct 6). The cologne one is a post you already have: your seasonal cologne posts link to it, so they don't compete.

3Write each one so AI can quote it

  • One heading per item: make every list item a heading that asks or names one thing ("Every 3 to 4 weeks for short hair"), answer it in one or two sentences straight under the heading, then add the detail. That's the shape Google's AI lifts from.
  • Say who's talking: "according to women" is your edge. AI answers prefer first-hand views found nowhere else, so quote your editors and readers by name.
  • Keep the year current: your 2026 trends list is quoted 16 times. Refresh the dated lists each year and change the year in the title only when the post is updated.
  • Your other quoted listicles: "How to Tell If A Girl Likes You" (14), "What to Wear with Chukka Boots" (10) and the camo pants (11) and black jeans (9) outfit guides. More "what to wear with" and "signs" lists in your voice follow the same pattern.
  • Add one human touch: a quick pass by one of your editors, adding one tip in her own words to each post, gives AI answers the first-hand view they quote and keeps the voice yours.
  • The old listicles, once Search Console is connected: if they bring large Discover traffic from older readers, move them to a section of their own. If they bring almost none, stop them and take the ones with no clicks in 90 days out of Google.
What to do
  • Your teamGive us Search Console access, so we can see what the current listicles bring from Google and Discover.
  • Your teamGive whoever runs the Discover program the eight titles and searches above as its next topic list, and compare them with the current format for 30 days.
  • We draft, you approveA longer topic list for the program: 30 on-topic titles in the same format, each matched to a search and checked on Google.
  • Your teamKeep the current listicles out of the homepage's top slots and the style hubs meanwhile.

What this doesGoogle's AI quotes pages that answer the typed question directly, from sites it trusts on that topic. With the new list, the same program and format answer exactly what your reader types, from a site Google already trusts for men's style and dating, so these posts should start bringing him from Google and getting quoted in its AI answers. Each one adds to the trust your style guides have earned instead of pulling against it.

Write a first-date outfit guide for the search your archive page gets today

The goal: Men planning a first date land on your outfit guide, with your signup form and product links, not an archive page.

The problemAbout 623 people a month search "first date outfit men", and you have no page for it, only seasonal ones. Google is already trying to rank you: for "what to wear on a first date men" it shows /blog/page/33/ in 6th place, a page of post summaries.

What to do
  • We draft, you approve"First Date Outfits for Men: What Women Notice", built from your seasonal posts.
  • Your teamOnce it's live, add the 6 links in step 2.

What this doesGoogle gets a real page to rank in the slot the archive holds today, and your first-date guide (about 715 visits a month) and the seasonal posts all point to it. That should help it show up for "first date outfit men" and "what to wear on a first date men", with your signup form and product links on the page.

Build a questions directory: one short page for each question men ask

The goal: Men asking Google a specific question about style, grooming or dating find a Style Girlfriend page that answers it in the first lines, then sign up for the newsletter.

The problemUnder almost every search we checked, Google shows a "People also ask" box with the questions men type next, like "What is the 3-3-3 rule in dating?" or "Are jeans okay for business casual?". Reddit, Quora and big publishers answer them; Style Girlfriend doesn't show up for any of them (Oct 6).

Our solutionA questions directory at /questions/: one short page per question, answered in the first two sentences, then your editors' take. About 916 sites link to yours and Google's AI already quotes you on 300 searches, so a short, exact answer from you can outrank a forum thread.

1Start with these questions

Searches are DataForSEO clickstream. "Own page" means the question shares 0 or 1 of Google's top 10 results with your guide on the topic, so it's a different search; 2 or more shared means it belongs inside that guide as a subheading. Every question came from Google's own "People also ask" boxes or real search data.

2Write each page to this pattern

One example, using the business casual question. Your editors write it; this is what it should include:

"Are Jeans Okay for Business Casual?": what the page should include
  • Main heading and title: the question, word for word.
  • The answer, first: 40 to 80 words straight under the heading that open with a direct yes, no or "it depends", then say when jeans work (dark, clean, no rips; with a collared shirt or knit, a blazer if the office leans formal, leather shoes) and when to skip them (client meetings, a conservative dress code).
  • Your editors' take, 3 to 5 first-hand points: which washes and fits your team approves, one outfit photo from your archive, and the mistake you see most.
  • Follow-up questions as visible subheadings: "Can you wear jeans to a business casual interview?" and "What shoes go with jeans for business casual?", each answered in 3 to 5 sentences.
  • Links: down to your business casual guide and "The Best Business Casual Jeans for Men", across to two other style questions, and a newsletter signup.
  • The pattern: the exact question as the main heading and title; a 40 to 80 word answer straight under it; 3 to 5 first-hand points; follow-up questions as visible subheadings (not hidden in drop-downs); a hidden label in the code telling Google it's an article with questions and answers.
  • Questions that belong inside a guide stay there: the camo, hair and dating-over-40 questions marked "subheading" are added to the guides you already have, so no two pages compete.
  • Start small: 20 to 30 pages first. A person on your team checks every answer before it goes live. Add more in batches only once the first pages show up on Google. Hundreds of pages at once can look like mass-produced content to Google.

When: after the section 1 changes. Start with the dating questions, which have the most searches.

What to do
  • Your teamPick an editor to own the directory and check every answer, and send us questions readers already ask you (DMs, newsletter replies, the styling sessions).
  • We draft, you approveThe first 20 to 30 pages from the table, and the /questions/ directory page.

Create /questions/[question-slug]/ pages (H1 and title = the question, no brand suffix) and a /questions/ hub (CollectionPage + ItemList), linked from the footer. Page schema: Article + FAQPage matching the visible follow-up questions; no QAPage. Each page links in its body to its conversion page (1 to 3 links) and to 2 to 3 sibling questions; guides and shop pages don't link back up to /questions/ in body copy.

What this doesEach page answers one question men ask every day, from a site Google already trusts, so it should start showing up in "People also ask" and give Google's AI a short passage to quote. Every page then sends the reader on to your guides and the newsletter.

Protect the long-hair guide and build out the hair posts around it

The goal: Your search traffic no longer hangs on one page, and more of the hair searches around it find your guides.

The problemAbout 20% of your estimated visits come from one page, the long-hair guide (/college-guy-style-argument-long-hair/, 8th for "long hair for men", about 10,763 searches a month). One ranking drop there would hit the whole site, and none of your hair posts links to it; only four other grooming posts do.

Our solutionLink your hair posts to the guide, refresh it, and add the hair pages that are missing around it.

1Add 5 links to the guide

Where each new link goes. Today none of your hair posts links to the guide; only four other grooming posts do (the shampoo, self-tanner, summer fragrance and 20s grooming guides).

The guide already links out to the haircut and hair-routine posts.

2Refresh the guide, and keep its address

Its address still carries an old column name, but other sites link to it, so leave the address alone. The title and main heading already name long hair. Page one is Pinterest, Reddit, GQ, YouTube and hair sites, with a Short videos block, so add a short video or photos of the styles.

3Add the missing hair pages

For example "How to Grow Out Your Hair (Men)" (about 326 searches a month) and hairstyles by face shape, each linking back to the guide. Only two of your 64 other grooming posts reach your top 1,000 searches today.

When: the links now. The new pages once Search Console confirms how much traffic the guide carries (today it's an estimate), after the section 1 changes.

What to do
  • Your teamAdd the 5 links in step 1, then refresh the guide.
  • We draft, you approveThe missing hair pages, each linking back to the guide.

What this doesFive of your own posts start pointing at the guide, which should strengthen it for "long hair for men" and help it move up from 8th. The new hair pages win the searches around it, so your traffic no longer hangs on one page.

Merge about 130 shopping roundups into 10 to 15 best-of pages you keep updated

The goal: 10 to 15 best-of pages that rank for shopping searches and earn you affiliate revenue year after year.

The problemAbout 130 shopping roundups and gift guides bring 0.5% of your estimated visits. They're one-season posts ("The 20 Best Fall Sweaters for Guys", seven #GiftInColor posts), so none builds up over time, and none was on page one or two for "gifts for boyfriend" (about 18,954 a month), "best mens jeans" or "best mens shampoo" (Oct 5).

Our solutionMerge them into 10 to 15 best-of pages with dateless addresses, and update each one in place every year.

What we found:

  • Dated: the 75 titles that name a past year span 2015 to 2025 (32 say 2025), many on roundups and gift guides. dated titles
  • Page one: shops, Reddit and GQ. Style Girlfriend wasn't on page one or two for any of them.
  • What works: /shop/collection/jeans-january/ is already titled "The Best Men's Jeans".

Merging can dip rankings for a few weeks. Forwarding old addresses, keeping the best content and going one page at a time keep that small.

When: Gift guides before Black Friday (Nov 27), then one page at a time as editing time allows.

What to do
  • We draft, you approveThe 10 to 15 evergreen (useful all year) best-of searches to target, gift guides first.
  • Your teamMerge each season's posts into one page (many already have dateless addresses, like /best-mens-sweatpants/), then retitle and update it in place each year.
  • Site developerForward each old post to the page it was merged into.
    Exact changes for your developer

Add a 301 redirect from each merged post's URL to the page it was merged into, and update internal links to point at the merged page.

What this doesEach best-of page keeps its links and gets fresher every year instead of starting from zero each season, which should help it reach page one for the shopping searches and earn affiliate revenue year after year.

Turn your shop pages into the pages Google shows for "best [item] for men"

The goal: Your shop pages, which earn commission on every click to a store, get found by men searching for the best jeans, sunglasses or watches, and your posts send readers to them.

The problemNone of your 42 shop pages is in Google's top 20 for its search (Oct 6). They're product grids with a one-word heading ("Pants", "Sunglasses") and no words, and Google's page one for "best [item] for men" is written reviews. Hundreds of your posts mention jeans, watches or shorts, but only one links to a shop page.

Our solutionGive each shop page a heading that names its search and some words around the products, merge the doubles, and link to it from the posts that mention the item.

1Rename the biggest pages and add words

The shop pages with the most searches, and what each should be called:

Shop pageThe searchSearches a monthProductsNew main heading
/shop/category/sunglasses/best sunglasses for men8,9325The Best Sunglasses for Men, Picked by Women
/shop/category/jeans/ and the "Best Men's Jeans" collectionbest jeans for men8,2156 and 4The Best Jeans for Men, Picked by Women
/shop/category/socks-underwear/ and the "Underwear Drawer Refresh" collectionbest underwear for men7,9712 and 4The Best Underwear and Socks for Men

/shop/category/outerwear/best winter coats for men1,46014The Best Winter Coats and Jackets for Men
/shop/category/pants/best pants for men1,42712The Best Pants for Men, Picked by Women

For every one of these, Google's first page is written reviews and lists (Reddit, GQ, Esquire, The New York Times, review sites) plus a few stores. A grid of products alone won't win; the page needs words too.

What each shop page needs: a main heading that names the search; one or two sentences above the products saying who they're for and why women like them; 300 to 500 words under the products (how to choose the fit and material, what women notice, a short FAQ); and links from the posts that mention the item, always with the same words ("best jeans for men").

2Merge the doubles and fill the empty pages

  • Five are empty or nearly empty: Dress Shirts, Ties & Pocket Squares and Scarves show no products; Bags and Suiting show one.
  • Four still have default titles: "Hats Archives", "Belts Archives", "Scarves Archives" and "Home Archives".
  • Merge the doubles: move the "Best Men's Jeans" collection into the Jeans category and the "Underwear Drawer Refresh" collection into Socks & Underwear, each with its old address forwarding. Keep Pants for "best pants for men" and make Bottoms the parent page that links to Pants and Shorts.
  • Empty pages: add at least two picks, or keep the page out of Google until it has them.
  • Editors' collections ("Alana's Picks", "Tess's Picks"): keep the editor's name as a subheading and let the main heading say what's in it, for example "Men's Activewear: Alana's Picks".
  • "Gifts for her" (about 30,582 searches a month) is the biggest search here, but the collection has two products and Google shows written gift guides (ABC News, The Guardian, Town & Country). A written guide wins it: see the gift guides.

Links only go one way: posts link to shop pages, and shop pages don't link back up to posts in their text.

When: after the section 1 changes. Start with jeans and sunglasses, the two biggest searches.

What to do
  • Your teamApprove the new headings, and pick at least two products for each empty page.
  • We draft, you approveThe sentence above the products and the 300 to 500 words below them for each page in the table, plus the post-by-post links.
  • Site developerHeadings, titles, the two merges and the links.
    Exact changes for your developer

For each product category in the table: set the H1 and Yoast title to the new heading, add the intro text above the product grid and the guide text below it. Replace the "… Archives" titles on hats, belts, scarves and home. Move the products from /shop/collection/jeans-january/ into /shop/category/jeans/ and from /shop/collection/guys-underwear-drawer/ into /shop/category/socks-underwear/, then 301 each collection to its category. Noindex the categories with fewer than 2 products until they're filled. Add contextual links from posts that mention each item, using one anchor per shop page.

What this doesEach shop page now names its search, explains its picks and gets links from your own posts, so Google has a reason to show it for "best jeans for men", "best sunglasses for men" and the rest, which thousands of men search every month. Every one of those visits is a chance at a commission.

Technical checks

Nothing on the site is hidden from Google by mistake: no page that should rank tells Google to skip it. These are the items to fix, those that touch readers first.

About 9 in 10 of the 1,623 broken links our site check flagged are Cloudflare's hidden email links, which work for readers; the rows above are the real ones. Old addresses other sites link to are in section 4; dated titles in section 3.

What to do
  • Site developerForward the dead addresses to live posts, fix the broken affiliate links, and fill or remove the placeholder pages.
    Exact changes for your developer

We'll send a spreadsheet of about 80 deleted post addresses and the 40 addresses other sites link to (section 4), each with the closest live post. Please add a 301 redirect for each, fix the affiliate links missing "https://" (we'll list them), add the episode list to /podcast/ or redirect it to /category/podcast/, and remove /studio/ from the sitemap unless it's being filled.

Also worth doing (2)

Fix the 150 broken addresses on at least 64 pages

The goal: Readers and Google stop hitting dead ends and missing images on your posts.

The problemA check of 2,000 pages found 150 addresses on your site that return errors, linked from at least 64 pages (Oct 5). Readers who click them hit a dead end or a missing image.

Our solutionForward the deleted posts to their closest live post, update the links on posts that get visits, and replace or remove the missing files.

When: Along with the forwarding in the table above, which covers the deleted posts and the links missing "https://". The missing files are what's left.

What to do
  • Site developerReplace or remove the 49 missing images and 2 PDFs.
  • Your teamUpdate the links on posts that still get visits, so they point at live posts directly.

What this doesReaders and Google stop hitting dead ends, and every link on your posts passes its value to a live page again.

Do the smaller clean-ups

The goal: Cleaner pages for Google and for readers who use screen readers.

The problemA few small gaps across the site: missing page summaries and image descriptions, two gift-guide pages with the same name, and a homepage whose subheadings are mostly product names.

Our solutionFix each one in the order below, pages that get visits first.

ItemFix

None of these moves rankings alone; each is a short job.

When: Any time, after the fixes in the table above, which also covers the placeholder pages and sitemap items.

What to do
  • Your teamWrite meta descriptions and alt text, starting with the pages that get visits.
  • Your teamWhich gift-guide page should be the hub: /holiday-gift-guides/ or /category/holiday-gift-guides/?
  • Site developerMake the homepage's section names the subheadings, with product names in plain text.
    Exact changes for your developer

On the homepage, 54 of 83 H2s are product names. Make each section name an H2 and set product names as plain text or a lower heading level.

What this doesBetter summaries under your titles in Google can win more clicks, and alt text tells Google and screen readers what each image shows. None of these moves rankings alone, but together they tidy the site.

5Social media strategy: a creative way to get found

This one is separate from the website work, and it's optional: an idea you can try if you want to.

Why it works

  • Google shows social posts in its results. It lists pins and posts from Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok for searches, just like web pages.
  • So your pins and videos can bring new readers. One that names a search can show up on Google, in front of people who don't follow you.
  • You already post them. The only change is how each title starts.
The idea (1)

Title pins and videos with the search, and post to YouTube again

The goal: Your pins and videos show up for the same searches as your articles and send readers to them.

The problemPinterest results come first on Google for 16 of the 40 searches we compared, but your pins and videos mostly show up only for your brand name. YouTube has been quiet since Nov 18, 2025 (Oct 5).

Our solutionStart every pin, video and post title with the phrase people search, then give the reason to click, and post to YouTube again.

Where your accounts show up on Google today:

AccountLatest postShows on Google for
Pinterest @stylegirlfriendCheck yourself1st for "mens celebrity fashion" (the site's page is 16th); 6th for "style girlfriend"
YouTube @stylegirlfriendNov 18, 2025; before that Jul 2023"style girlfriend", "megan collins style girlfriend"
Instagram @stylegf, TikTok @stylegfCheck yourself behind a login2nd for "style girlfriend" (Instagram)

Pinterest shows up most; YouTube and Instagram show mainly for the brand name.

  • Pinterest is first on 16 of the 40 searches, including "white jeans outfit men" and "brown pants outfit men".
  • Short videos show on "long hair men" and "business casual men".
Next pin or video titleSearches a month
Business casual men: 5 outfits women notice118,539
Long hair men: how to grow it out10,763
Mens fall outfits: 7 looks for this week2,865
First date outfit men: what she notices623

Each title starts with the phrase people type, then gives the reason to click.

Searches where Pinterest fills most of Google's first page (Oct 6), and the post each pin should link to:

Your posts aren't in Google's top 30 for any of these, but pins are most of page one. A pin titled with the search is how Style Girlfriend gets onto it. Thanksgiving pins go up by early November.

  • Short videos show up for "how to get rizz" (TikTok in the top 10), "how to wear a bandana men" (TikTok and Instagram) and "how to smell good all day men" (an Instagram reel), so those suit YouTube Shorts and Reels.
  • Searches we left out: "dress pants for men", "mens toiletry bag" and "best baseball caps for men" show only stores, so neither a pin nor a post reaches the reader there.

Two examples from your own posts. The title starts with the search; the rest you write in your voice, with these in it:

Pinterest pin, for "Why Stylish Guys Know Grey Pants Are Anything But Boring"
  • Title: starts with "Grey pants outfit men", then the hook, for example "Grey Pants Outfit Men: Looks That Are Anything But Boring".
  • Description should include: "grey pants outfit" in the first words, your angle (picked by women), and a reason to click through (every look and where to buy it).
  • Board: one named for the search, like "Men's Outfit Ideas". Link: stylegirlfriend.com/grey-pants-mens-outfit/
YouTube Short or Reel, for "How to Have More Rizz with Women"
  • Title: starts with "How to get rizz with women", then who's saying it, for example "(A Woman Explains)".
  • First line on camera should include: the search said out loud in the first few seconds, then the promise of the woman's view.
  • Description should include: the search in the first words, "Style Girlfriend", and the link to the full guide, stylegirlfriend.com/how-to-get-good-rizz/.

When: Once we've seen your Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest posts. Login walls kept us from reading them.

What to do
  • Your teamStart every pin, board, video and post title with the searched phrase, and link each pin to the matching article.
  • Your teamSend us exports or screenshots of recent Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest posts, so we can check the titles.

What this doesGoogle ranks pins and videos for the same searches as articles, and the title is how it matches them. Pins and videos that start with the search should start showing up on page one in front of men who don't follow you yet, and send them to your posts.
